Energy and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Management

Energy Use

The primary energy sources used by Chang Kuang include purchased electricity, gasoline, and diesel, with electricity accounting for the majority. In 2024, total fossil fuel consumption reached 91 GJ, mainly from gasoline used in company vehicles, followed by diesel for forklifts and backup generators.

To reduce dependence on fossil fuels, we plan to gradually introduce electric vehicles, adopt alternative fuels, and expand the use of clean energy in our operations.

GHG Inventory

To minimize environmental impact, Chang Kuang adopted 2023 as the base year for GHG inventory and conducts annual inventories in accordance with ISO 14064-1:2018, covering all major operational sites in Taiwan.

In 2024, Scope 1 emissions were 91.28 metric tons CO2e, while Scope 2 emissions were 854.57 metric tons CO2e, reflecting a 10.25% increase from the previous year due to the inclusion of a new facility (Plant II).

Carbon Reduction Measures

Chang Kuang is actively implementing energy-saving and carbon reduction initiatives to lower its operational carbon footprint. We promote a green office culture and improve energy efficiency through various behavioral and operational practices. GHG inventories are conducted annually to monitor emissions and ensure timely response.

We also aim to collaborate with our supply chain to build a low-carbon and sustainable operation model.

Key Initiatives:

  • Turn off lights in pantries, stairwells, and other common areas.

  • Office lighting is switched off from 13:00–13:30.

  • Air conditioning is allowed only when room temperature exceeds 27°C, and doors/windows must remain closed during use.

  • Lighting and air conditioning in meeting rooms must be turned off after use.

  • Non-essential equipment is shut down at the end of each workday.

    Water Resource Management

In 2024, wastewater generated from the RO cleaning process was 100% reused for domestic applications (e.g., water towers), helping reduce total water withdrawal by 8.4% compared to 2023.
